"When I Grow Up"

 Celebrating Christmas with Marulaya is different. Though we prepared only for two days, I can say that the party is successful and oh... pretty much fun! It was December 22 when we had an ocular slash General Assembly at the Metropolitan Theater to give updates regarding the grandest Production of Marulaya this year. After that, we had the very first rehearsal at the stage of the theater. Of course, I used the opportunity to get donations from our elders so we can raise enough fund for the Christmas Party the following day. After the rehearsal, we went to different parts of Espana to sing Christmas carols to stores we see around. It was my first time to join them and I enjoyed the experience. It's very fulfilling because we were able to collect enough for our needs. We will surely have an exciting party!
     I didn't went home straight after that. Together with the other officers, Kuya Ampol and Kuya Mars (who both will be the hosts of the party), we had a meeting and planned the program, games and awards. Oh, I forgot to tell you the theme of the party! Last year, we had a Kiddie Party that made us feel like we're all children. Everything is for kids, even our clothes. This year, we posted choices of theme and the winner is... (drum rolls) the title of this blog! WHEN I GROW UP CHRISTMAS PARTY- your dreams when you grow up. There are some who became office girl, reporter, doctor, etc.

Guess what I was that night. I want to be a teacher someday, but of course I didn't dress up as one. I used my creative mind and shiiiing! I had the best costume. That's for me only :) Seriously, I am a farmer then, but not just a typical farmer, but the prettiest and  the coolest farmer in town!

  I am the one in charge of the program, although I am not the Project Manager of this event. I just stepped up and shoulder the responsibility because among the officers, i know the complete flow of the party and our President is sleeping the time we are conducting our meeting.

All in all, the party was fun. I am glad that everyone enjoyed what we prepared. Food flooded and we didn't eat everything that is served. Some even brought home foods! The wacky awards and the games as well are cool. Most of all, the big amount raffle items of our beloved elders. Awesome party!

PLM-AIM Christmas Party

Monday

     Attending parties is fun, isn't it? How about organizing one? Do you think it's fun, too? Well, it's cool!

     Last week  was a very busy week for me. It started on Monday, December 20, when my PLM-AIM family celebrated the birth of our Savior with the theme "Vida La Gracia". It was written in 1 Corinthians 15: 20 that "But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace to me was not without effect." Yes. It's by the grace of God! So as a family, we were very grateful. God is the reason for the season. Without Him, we will not be where we are right now.

    

     I am assigned in the set-up team. We were the ones who prepared the table and chairs, sound systems, as well as cleaning and decorating the area. Then, little by little, members, leaders and alumni are showing up. When everything's ready, we started the program by singing songs of praise to God. Nothing feels more fulfilling than worshiping the Lord. We lifted our hands and voices and the angels in heaven seemed to sing with us. A friend told me after that he noticed cirrus clouds circling around us while we were praising God. Felt like that the heaven itself opened its gates for us. Praise Jesus!
     After that, we had games and presentations. I am part of the acting group. At the last part, I did a monologue that challenges young people to continue pursuing the opportunities and responsibilities God has placed on their shoulders as Connect Group Leaders. We ended up with the question, "Ikaw, itutuloy mo ba?" (You, will you continue it? Honestly, it's a funny translation =D)

     Then, we had the most delicious food served. Kuya Lester and the food team (I don't know how I will call them) is the best! But aside from the food, we had special guests that made the night more colorful. We had a frustrated- English speaking party because of the unexpected youth visitors from Hong Kong. They are here in the country to say that Hong Kong still love Filipinos in spite of what happened before. Remember the Hostage Drama? In the card they are giving away, they said that they come to share their friendship and the message of  Christmas- that Jesus lived and died so we can enjoy peace, hope and joy, and He restores our relationships with God and with people! It's funny to see my brothers and sisters speak in straight English just for everyone to understand them. Terrific!
     The night ended with inspirational messages from the previous presidents of AIM who are now successful in their own fields, talking about how they were able to handle studies and connect group leadership, not by their own might, but by God's guidance. I've learned that I can face even the most difficult trial and pressure because I have Jesus in me. I am challenged by my own monologue. This 2011, my goal is to bring honor to God in my everyday life and to serve Him all the more in my ministry.
     Excited for 2011! To God be the glory!
